Get ready for Death Note!
Seeing how no one’s commented on my last post yet, figured I’d move right along to other topics in the meantime, such as the brand-new Death Note anime that will be premiering today in Japan. The anime is pretty highly anticipated because the manga has been a top seller nearly since its incarnation in 2004 (12 tankubons are available in Japan, and 8 in North America to date), and boasts some recognized names in voice acting, with Yamaguchi Kappei playing L and Miyano Mamoru as Light. The anime is being produced by Madhouse and broadcast on NTV.
I won’t say too much since this is a title I’ll likely review over the next few weeks, but I figured a quick blurb about it would tip off or remind anyone wanting to catch the premiere. As of yet, no English adaptation is planned, but since the manga is available in North America, I wouldn’t count one out just yet.

I picked up this manga back when it came out in America. I didn’t take the time to read past the first volume but it was quite interesting. I certainly hope this hits america. They have a nice display for the anime in Tsutaya in Shibuya. I thought I saw something indicating a live action movie of this. Am I correct? As interest has become so huge in this thing I think I will take up reading the rest of the series available so far in english. It’s sad that Air never made it to english adaptation. I saw that last year and was very interested in it. Never heard about it hitting America.

I did indeed hear about the live action movie! It premiered back in June in Japan; no word of it making it West, though. I suppose the anime (if and when it’s licensed) might generate some interest in that!
I haven’t seen Air but I’ve heard good things. Maybe I’ll check it out and review it, so the word will be spread a bit more. :)
