Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch
The name of this show is just so amusing.
Anyway. This shoujo story, based on a manga that serialized in Nakayoshi, consists of 52 episodes plus a 39-episode sequel/second season known as Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure. The mermaid heroine, Lucia, is a princess who searches for a boy she rescued seven years previous. Once they are reunited, though, she must find a way to bring him to the realization that she is the same girl he met so long ago, without telling him outright - elsewise she will be turned into seafoam.
…in the meantime, she and other mermaid princesses turn into idol singers to fight evil sea monsters with the power of their voices.
It’s an odd show, but definitely tried-and-true shoujo (including magical girls!) if you like that kind of series. Unfortunately the license, which was picked up by ADV Films in 2004, has since been dropped, so it’s only available via raws and fansubs.

I really wish someone had the guts to tackle this project, unlike those ungutsy fools at ADV Films, who picked up and dropped the license like a two-year-old with his favorite toy.

Mermaid Melody is one of the funniest shows I ever seen! Why did they stop bringing it to the US?!?! The only thing that will HINT them in US is the magna!!! Bring Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch to USA!!!!!!!!!

Okay, what the heck? When did ADV license, and the drop it? And, more importantly, they dont HAVE to air it, just produce the friggen DVD’s, and we’ll be happy. Jeez.

well i am hopeing with the realese of this manga that ADV will see what a mistake they made dropping the licence. OH well.. they will be sorry, it is such a good anime! Everyone, buy the manga and tell your friends to buy the manga so they will bring it to america! I really want them to make DVD’s

The thing I wanna know, is if MMPPP is no longer licensced, why doesn’t Lunar continue subbing it. The website still labels the anime as “Licensced.” Does that mean some other group has started getting it to US or did they just not update that?

I love the show! My favorate mermaid is Luchia, my favorate couple is Luchia x Kaito, my favorate bad girl is Lahuna, and my favorate bad guy is Lady Bat. I am listening to a Lady Bat music video right now and it is awsome!
